JIVAMUKTI YOGA RETREAT IN TRIOPETRA (CRETE) with Magali & Alexandra

On this retreat you will have a chance to deepen your practice in yoga and meditation. Furthermore, it will detox, relax and nourish you on the physical, mental and emotional level. Recharge your soul with the nourishing greek sun, fuel yourself with delicious vegetarian and vegan food, enjoy and experience the endless, wild beaches and the great nature of Crete. You will have an entire week to take care of yourself and enjoy your life the fullest with Alexandra & Magali.
Daily schedule (changes are possible)
Excluding the day of arrival and departure, the yoga courses will be held daily from
8:00 – 11.00 am and 5 – 7.30 pm
The morning practice with Alexandra & Magali is a classical Jivamukti package of tradition, music, singing, meditation, bhakti and asana practice.
Afternoon classes are focused on alignment and building the blocks to certain poses. They’ll also have lots of fun elements including both partner work and restore and renew Jivamukti Classes.
We’ll discuss yoga philosophy and its relevance in our daily life.
And of course there will the famous sunset meditations and chanting on the roof terrace.
There will be coffee and fruit before morning practice, brunch from 11:30 am and dinner at 8 pm.

Transportation: Transportation is not included in the price. There is a direct flight from Luxembourg to Boa Vista on 22nd January, returning on 29th January with Luxair. Please wait with the booking of your flights until you got a confirmation from us. In order to reduce the flight costs as much as possible, we would appreciate if you could let us know your interest in the retreat by the 1st August 2026 at info@jivamuktiyogaluxembourg.com.  The transportation to/from the airport in Boa Vista will be organised at your charge (more or less 15€ one way).

END SESSION: Jivamukti Yoga Open Practice with Live Vinyl DJ Set with Nicole & Christophe
SATURDAY 27th June 2026: 17:00-19:00 (40€)

Take yourself onto this journey of a special Jivamukti Yoga Open practice led by Nicole Olenskaia at JYL!

This class is open to practitioners of all levels and will follow the traditional structure of a Jivamukti Open class, combining mindful movement, breath awareness, and meditation with thoughtful sequencing rooted in classical yoga teachings. Jivamukti Yoga emphasises the integration of physical practice, philosophical reflection, breath, music, and meditation in a balanced and grounded way.For this session, Christophe Demart will accompany the practice with a live vinyl DJ set designed to enrich your experience. The music will be woven into the rhythm of the class, supporting inner focus and presence while enhancing the sensory environment of the practice.

At the close of the session, we will extend the final meditation and savasana to create space for deeper listening and appreciation of the live mixing. This deliberate attention to sound and silence invites a calm and reflective state, underscoring the role of music and attentive listening within the Jivamukti tradition.

Ayurveda workshop with Dr. Warren Ashley

In this workshop, we explore the holistic language of Ayurveda and its timeless wisdom, discovering how it can support us in everyday life. Ayurveda invites us to be connected to our own nature and the world around us. Together, we will explore the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and their role in supporting balance in body, mind, and emotions.

Master Class on Twisting & Core (50€)

This workshop will blend twisting poses with intelligent core work to build strength, stability, and fluidity along the spine.  You will awaken your core while supporting the muscles that support your posture and ring out toxicity in your bodies and mind. The result is a calmer, more stable energy that creates a space for a quieting pranayama practice at the end.

This workshop will include standing and seated twists with targeted core activation. This workshop is for practitioners wanting to strengthen their core and understand how to twist safely and supported. Twisting postures can build strength from the inside out while keeping the body supported, open, and transformed!

Unraveling the neck and shoulders and quieting our nervous system (90€)

Our necks are designed for movement and to look around at our  environment, however, because of their flexibility, it is common for deep tension to be stored in this region. Our shoulder girdle helps to support our neck and when this area awakens it can unlock deep tension and bring balance to the entire body. This workshop will gently unravel tension in the neck and shoulders while guiding the nervous system towards a quieter and more settled state. Through slow mindful movement and supportive poses, you will release habitual holding patterns and reconnect with a sense of ease and steadiness.  You will leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more regulated in your nervous system through the use of asana and restorative yoga.

Master Class Unraveling our Psoas (50€)

Our psoas is known as the “Seat of Our Soul” and sits in the core of our body, connecting the upper half of our body to the lower half. This muscle is both a physical stabilizer and messenger of the nervous system. When it is centered and balanced, we move in a more centered and fluid way. This practice will emphasize a gradual release through a slow supportive practice that will help guide you towards releasing held tension in this region while cultivating a sense of stability and groundness. If you have tight hips, lower back discomfort, or postural strain, this healing practice can help you find balance and ease!

The Spine and approaching backbends in a safe and supported way (90€)

This spine is a dynamic intelligent structure and offers a clear supportive pathway towards safe backbending. Through the use of alignment cues, working with props, and sequencing, students will learn how to create spinal mobility and strength while approaching backbends with confidence and ease. You will learn the importance of balancing your spinal curves and the use of your “wheels”,  which help to protect the vulnerable parts of your back. We will work into more advanced backbends in a safe and progressive way, helping you to understand how to access these challenging and invigorating poses. Backbends can offer a great sense of spaciousness when approached in a supported and grounded way and leave you  feeling opened and transformed.

About Joan:

Joan Hyman’s grounded teaching style seamlessly supports her students as they emerge from their practice with the rich and bright energy that yoga has to offer. Joan’s teachings come from an organic and intuitive place, as she draws upon the combined studies of the Ashtanga and Iyengar methods, as well as Ayurveda and meditation. An authentic modern-day yogi, Joan’s love and devotion show up in her practice and throughout her teaching. You will leave her class feeling transformed and deeply aligned.

Originally from Philadelphia, Joan earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Temple University. Shortly after finishing college, she moved to New York City to pursue a professional dance career, and it was there that she discovered yoga. Soon after, she relocated to Santa Monica, California, where she completed the YogaWorks Teacher Training with Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford in 2002, followed by further study with Annie Carpenter, who is known for her SmartFlow® system of highly intelligent sequencing.

Joan received her YogaWorks Certification in 2006, and took her first trip to Mysore, India, to study with the beloved Sri K. Pattihbi Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy. Since then, she has traveled extensively throughout India and has been blessed to study with several world-renowned teachers in far-off places where she has enjoyed unplugging from the Western way of living, fully embracing the yogic lifestyle and immersing herself in her practices.

Joan spent fifteen years as a distinguished YogaWorks Senior Teacher before bringing her expertise to Wanderlust as the Director of Teacher Trainings in 2016. Now, with over twenty years experience leading retreats, trainings, and international workshops, Joan continues to travel the globe leading her own signature trainings. In addition, Joan partners with yoga schools in various corners of the world on developing their teacher training programs. The ‘Teens Yoga’ classes provide a non-competitive environment for teenagers to explore asanas that can help build self-confidence and strength. With breathing and relaxation techniques, concentration can be improved as well as stress reduced. Connecting to their bodies in a loving way, while staying playful and fun allows them to truly hear the messages of their own heart and make choices that resonate with their personal values. Classes often revolve around a philosophical theme and may include discussion, journaling, or chanting of mantras.
